No agreed definition exists — which is precisely why the word is everywhere. Common candidates: beats most professionals on most economic tasks, can autonomously learn new domains, or simply “does what a smart remote worker does”. Every frontier lab claims AGI as its mission; skeptics answer that current models still fail at long-horizon agency, physical reasoning and knowing what they don't know.
