GLOSSARY
Generative AI
AI that creates new content — text, images, video, audio or code — rather than only classifying or predicting from fixed options.
Generative AI refers to models that produce original output — writing, images, video, music, code — learned from patterns in large datasets. The breakthrough came when architectures like transformers and diffusion models made generation good enough to be genuinely useful, not just entertaining.
Every tool in this directory is generative AI: chat assistants generate prose, image models generate pixels, and video models generate motion. The economics are disruptive because creation cost collapses — but so do the barriers to producing convincing falsehoods, which is why verification habits matter.
