Overview
Aider edits code in a terminal workflow using a chosen model and repository context. Its Git integration normally commits edits and can first commit pre-existing dirty changes; auto-commits, dirty commits or Git use can be disabled separately. Default behavior is not a guarantee that every change is reviewed or recoverable.
Commit-message generation sends diffs and chat history to the configured weak model, and pre-commit hooks are skipped by default unless configured otherwise. Choose model endpoints and review changes before granting repository access. A local CLI is not proof that code and prompts never leave the machine.
