Overview

Base44 builds and hosts a complete application from a description: frontend, database, authentication and hosting arrive together, so what comes out is an app other people can log into rather than a frontend waiting on a backend. Wix acquired the company, and the platform now sells itself as a vibe-coding product with a free tier.

It suits small internal tools, client portals and MVPs, where the boring half of the stack is exactly the part you would rather not build again. It suits them less well when the application is the business and its code has to be owned, audited and moved, because the convenient all-in-one arrangement is also the part that is hardest to take with you.

Read on 2026-10-12: the pricing page puts the free tier at 25 message credits and 100 integration credits a month and up to 5 apps, and the docs add that free-plan credits are capped at 5 a day. Paid tiers are listed at USD 16 (Starter), USD 40 (Builder), USD 80 (Pro) and USD 160 (Elite) a month billed annually, with yearly billing saving 20%. The pricing page states that you own your code, data and users, and that two-way GitHub sync exports the full source to your own repository; the docs add that the sync requires the Builder plan or above and that a beta API downloads the source as a zip. On cancellation the docs say access runs to the end of the paid period, after which the workspace drops to the free plan: apps stay live, while paid-only features and apps beyond the five-app limit do not. A failed or lapsed payment is still not described on the pages read, and no plan was bought, so the prices are as listed rather than as charged.
