Bedrock is not a better Claude. It is Claude (and Llama, and Titan, and more) billed, logged and walled the AWS way: IAM, CloudTrail, PrivateLink, Guardrails that legal can point at. Vertex is the Google twin; Azure OpenAI is the Microsoft twin. You pick Bedrock when the rest of production already lives in an AWS account.

The tax is AWS complexity and a model catalog that lags the labs' own APIs by a beat. Knowledge Bases and Agents are real enough to start and not the last word in RAG. For regulated stacks that already signed the AWS MSA, skipping Bedrock to call Anthropic direct is often the harder conversation.
