Overview

HyperFrames is HeyGen's open-source framework for turning web documents into video. A composition is an HTML file plus CSS, media and seekable animations, and the renderer seeks each frame in headless Chrome and encodes the result with FFmpeg, so the same input produces the same file and the same files can be rendered from CI. It is built for developers and for agents: beside the CLI loop (init, lint, check, snapshot, preview, render, publish, plus cloud render and Lambda commands) the project publishes 21 skills with a router skill that a coding agent loads to plan a video, write the composition, lint it and render it. Node.js 22 or newer with FFmpeg is the local requirement, and a native Studio app for macOS and Linux now sits next to the browser surface.

It suits teams that already own the material and want its assembly versioned and scriptable — product launches, PR walkthroughs, chart animations, captioned social clips — and it suits anyone delegating the edit to an agent. It suits less well a user who wants finished footage from a prompt, because HyperFrames composes assets you supply rather than generating them, so the footage still has to come from elsewhere. Expect to work in a terminal with local commands and project files if nobody on the team writes code, and treat the Studio app as a surface the project itself calls evolving.

Not verified: nothing was rendered here, so determinism, output quality and behaviour on a large real project are the project's design goals rather than results reproduced in this entry. The repository is Apache-2.0 and its README states there are no per-render fees or commercial-use thresholds; on 2026-10-12 the GitHub API reported 61,050 stars and 259 open issues for a repository created 2026-03-10 and pushed the same day. Free applies to local rendering, which the quickstart says does not consume HeyGen credits; the documentation also describes a HeyGen-hosted cloud render path with 4K billed at 1.5x and MP4 only, WebM and MOV on the alpha-capable path, and a 200 MB project archive limit, plus AWS Lambda and Google Cloud Run deployment for teams running their own render fleet. No vendor price list was reachable this pass (the site's pricing path returned 404), so no money figure for the hosted path is quoted. Whether the published skills install and behave as described in a given agent was not tested.
