Overview
Letta's current development is in Letta Code, which combines agent memory, tools and coding workflows. The original repository archives the old V1 API server; it does not say the whole Letta product or current API plan has ended. AgentFile.af import/export is deprecated, not evidence that every export mechanism is gone.
Letta Cloud is the default backend; a local option can be selected and persisted. With Cloud, memory, identity and conversations are stored remotely even when code runs locally. Editable memory and MemFS/git are implementation features, not proof of reliable long-term recall. Choose backend, permissions and data handling before supplying private material.
