Lexica built its name as the search box for Stable Diffusion: an index of generated images where the prompt, the negative prompt and the sampler settings were visible and copyable, extended later by a generator of its own so you could remix a found style instead of reverse-engineering one. For anyone learning to prompt, that browse-first loop was the fastest classroom on the web, and the habit it created — every image carrying somebody else's recipe — is now standard equipment across the category. Its value was always curation by example rather than model quality: you came for the reference, not the render.

Today the review is mostly a warning. On 2026-09-20 we reached the site twice by independent routes and got HTTP 500 at the root and 404 on /search and /about, and no shutdown notice was published, so we cannot confirm that the index, the generator or the account tiers still work — which is enough to rule it out as a daily tool while it keeps its value as a record of prompt craft. Treat any prompts you saved there as your own backup, because an erroring search index is not a library. If it comes back, verify three things before paying: which model the generator now claims and whether that is still the lineage you want, whether images surfaced through the index are licensed for commercial reuse, and whether recurring billing is still running against a service you cannot reach.
