ModelScope is to the Chinese AI ecosystem what Hugging Face is to the Western one: the default place to publish, discover and run open models. It hosts hundreds of thousands of models — including the Qwen family's official releases — with free notebook inference, a pipeline API that loads any model in a few lines, and deep integration with Chinese-language research and datasets.

For global users it is most valuable as a mirror and a first home: Qwen weights land here first, Chinese-community fine-tunes appear here earlier than elsewhere, and the free CPU inference makes trying large downloads unnecessary. The interface and docs lean Chinese-first, which adds friction outside Asia — but as a complement to Hugging Face for Qwen-ecosystem work, it is essential.
