Official-document research

Based on the cited documentation. We did not use the product, purchase a plan, or run quality, speed or reliability tests in this review.

Consider it for

  • Researchers reviewing legacy Runway workflows
  • Owners auditing old project dependencies

Choose another approach if

  • New production depending on Gen-3 Act-One access
  • Assuming Act-Two or Max restores the original feature

Pricing and conditions

Current terms unconfirmed

There is no verified current purchasable price for the retired Gen-3 Act-One workflow. The current Runway page's Free one-time 125 credits, Standard/Pro/Max subscriptions, annual equivalents and newer-model rates are platform offerings, not an Act-One quotation or access promise. The retained paid classification is historical. Old Act-One credit rates, currency, taxes, region and billing conditions were not re-established; successor/API/enterprise costs must be evaluated separately.

Code, model and service licensing

The original hosted feature did not grant downloadable source or model weights. Current general Runway terms do not restrict compliant commercial use of outputs, but users need rights to inputs, performances, likenesses and voices; results are not guaranteed unique or cleared. Those terms permit input/output use for model training and point Enterprise to separate terms. The present agreement does not establish what a 2024 customer's contract said, and no successor license is inferred for Act-One.

Basis and limits of the recorded score

The existing 4.6 is preserved as a historical score with no available original worksheet. It was not rerated and is not evidence of present availability, acting quality or value.

Overview

Act-One was introduced on October 22, 2024 as a performance-driven character-animation tool inside Gen-3 Alpha. The launch article described using a recorded actor's video and voice performance to drive a generated character. These are historical vendor-described capabilities, not measured evidence of expression fidelity, timing or cinematic quality.

The dedicated help article now states that this feature is no longer available: Gen-3 Alpha retired July 8, 2026 and Gen-3 Alpha Turbo July 30, 2026. Both dates precede this review. This entry therefore documents the original workflow rather than recommending a new purchase. Act-Two and current Runway plans are separate offerings; a surviving launch page or platform subscription does not restore Gen-3 Act-One. We did not generate or inspect an output.
