Overview
TickTick's AI sits at the capture step rather than replacing it. The app has always been strong at natural-language parsing — type 'call the dentist tomorrow at 3pm' and it splits the task, the time, the reminder and the list in one motion — and the newer layer builds on that base: Voice Capture turns a spoken ramble into a structured task, and Audio Summary compresses what is already on your plate into a few readable lines. What TickTick is genuinely good at is that the task, the calendar and the habit tracker are the same object, so a parsed item lands on a real day instead of floating in an inbox. Suggestions arrive where you already look, which is the whole case for built-in AI over a chatbot you have to open separately.
Against Todoist Assist the difference is gravity. Todoist's assistant is better at reasoning about and rewriting your tasks; TickTick's is better at getting one thing onto one day, and the calendar view makes that obvious. It will still mis-parse — vague dates and recurring rules are where it quietly goes wrong, and fixing by hand costs more than the shortcut saved. Three checks before paying: which of these features are inside Premium, since the line shifts between platforms; whether your operating systems are covered; and how cleanly your data gets out. Exports are coarse, and a habit history built over years is the real switching cost. If TickTick already holds your week, switch it on. Wanting the AI alone is not a reason to migrate.
