Todoist Assist is AI folded into the list, not a chatbot beside it, and the site names its pieces. Ramble turns spoken notes into tasks, so a dictation becomes an item with a date and a project instead of a paragraph. Task Assist proposes tasks and sub-tasks for messy work. Email Assist turns forwarded mail into organised tasks. Filter Assist writes filters from plain descriptions, which matters once labels and projects outgrow a flat list. The company says processing runs on its own protected servers, that third parties do not train on it, and that the capabilities are optional: only Email Assist has a switch.

Assist is bundled, not billed separately, so the real decision is whether you want a Todoist subscription. The comparison table gates it by sessions, not features: free Beginner gets limited sessions, Pro and Business unlimited, and the page says advanced capabilities come with the paid plans. It suits people whose friction is capture — walking, driving, mid-conversation — and who already think in Todoist's grammar of dates, labels and projects. It does not suit anyone whose problem is prioritisation or calendar placement; that is Reclaim or Sunsama territory, and no volume of sub-tasks makes a bad plan good. Parsing remains yours to audit, and a confidently wrong due date is invisible until something is missed.
